Welcome!

The Great River Journey is a unique world-class geotour. It combines the adventure of a wilderness river safari with a journey of personal discovery — there is no other product like it in North America. The Great River Journey begins in Whitehorse and unfolds over eight days and 600 kilometers (373 miles) of wilderness leading to Dawson City. Along the way, it passes through the traditional lands of our four First Nations partners, whose citizens are among the people who will be hosting, guiding and caring for guests.

Small groups (maximum 10 people) travel in their own riverboat with a pilot and an experienced local guide. Frequent landings are made to view wildlife, explore the wilderness and historical sites, rest and relax. The small group size and the wide variety of Yukon attractions permit each tour to be personalized to accommodate special interests such as wildlife viewing, nature photography, bird watching, hiking, paddling and participating in cultural and interpretative programs.

The Great River Journey has been developed as a responsible tourism product, with respect for the environment and First Nations culture as its cornerstone values.

Great River Journey

Patron’s Program
Every enterprise needs customers in order to thrive and grow. But our venture, Great River Journey, needs more than just customers; it needs patrons.

Why patrons?
A patron is a supporter, someone who may have been connected to our venture in some formative way, someone who likes the idea of what we’re trying to achieve with our Yukon River Safari. Our patrons are those with a sense of adventure themselves who would like to be involved in our success in some way.

Why do we need patrons?
Great River Journey is being readied for market. We’d love to test our product to ensure it meets the high standards we’ve set for it. By offering a full-featured tour, we can assess the quality of our staff training and facilities. We want you to be part of our growth experience by taking part in a Patrons Tour.

What does a patron do?
In exchange for a special rate, we’d like to take you on our all inclusive journey, then get your feedback. You’ll be among the first to experience many of our First Nations products such as visiting Fish Camps, meeting elders, and listening to stories from their oral traditions.

Your feedback will tell us if we included the right mix of the cultural and historical aspects of the First Nations, the Klondike Gold Rush Stampede, Yukon River and territory into our overall program.

Your feedback will also assist us in selecting the nature products that we’ll be featuring such as birding tours, floral and fauna interpretative walks, wildlife viewing opportunities, and other nature-based optional activities.

What’s in it for the patron?
Two things:
• a unique experience
• a tremendous value The Great River Journey Patrons tour represents a unique price value.
Patron rewards go beyond the current year with special patrons referral rates for your friends and colleagues: anyone you refer to Great River Journey in the future will be eligible for a special rate when they book.
