Reservations, Deposits & Payment
- To make a reservation call or email us.at.1-866-756-2421, or info@gretriverjourney.com. We encourage you to book early as reservations are accepted on a first come first served basis and we cannot over fill our trips.

- A deposit of 25% of the trip fee is payable at the time of booking Final booking confirmation is made when the deposit and the registration package are received.
- Full payment is required 90 days prior to departure. If a reservation is made within 90 days of departure, full payment is due at the time of booking. If the full payment is not received when due, Great River Journey reserves the right to treat the reservation as cancelled.
- A confirmation package containing your trip itinerary; invoice; clothing and equipment recommendations and baggage tags, will be sent out approximately 3 weeks prior to departure.
Methods of Payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Cheques and Money Orders for deposits and final payments.
Our prices are quoted in Canadian.
Cancellations, Refunds and Transfers
Should you need to cancel your reservation, you must notify us in writing; by e-mail, or by fax immediately. Deposits are refundable up to 90 days prior to the departure date and are subject to a $100.00 CDN administration fee. Deposits are non refundable after this 90 day period.
The balance of your payment will be refunded to you according to the following schedule:
Up to 91 days: 100% less $100.00 USD
90-61 Days: 75% of the fee is retained
60-0 Days 100% of the fee is retained
If you cancel more than 90 days prior to the tour departure date the deposit paid is transferable to any other tour date within 12 months of the original tour start date, minus a per person transfer fee.
We will not grant partial refunds for any unused trip arrangements after the trip has commenced or any refunds to trip members who do not complete any portion of the itinerary for whatever reason.
We may cancel departures if forced to do so by circumstances such as weather (snow conditions, temperatures, river levels, forest fires etc.) or what is commonly referred to as force majeure. In these instances we will refund all passengers in full if cancellation takes place more than 90 days prior to tour departure date. If cancellation occurs within the 90 day period we will offer to postpone your trip to another departure within 12 months of the original tour start date. We will not be responsible for costs associated with airline change fees or for any compensation.
If we cancel your tour due to insufficient enrolment, we will endeavor to find an alternate tour for you. If this is not acceptable, all monies paid will be refunded in full and will constitute full settlement. We will not be responsible for any expenses that have incurred as a result of your booking. We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase trip cancellation insurance as this may provide coverage under such circumstances.
Trip Cancellation/Medical/Evacuation Insurance
(Strongly Recommended)
If you require evacuation for any reason, the expense incurred through the evacuation will be borne by the participant(s) evacuated. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation/medical insurance. Please check your Health Plan to ensure that additional coverage is purchased if so required.
Itinerary Changes
We will take every measure to ensure the accuracy of the itineraries and promotional literature. However circumstances beyond our control may necessitate changes to tour content and changes in tour dates. We reserve the right to change itineraries if we feel it will enhance your experience or are forced to do so by circumstances beyond our control (e.g. Snow conditions, temperature, river levels, forest fires etc.).
If we incur expenses for unexpected logistical arrangements not covered in the printed itinerary, the cost will be evenly divided among the participants.
Additional Fees & Charges
Charges not included in the tour price are; personal clothing and effects; personal alcoholic beverages; fishing licenses; add-on activities; transportation to and from Whitehorse; GST (Goods & Service Tax). Additional costs due to changes beyond our control due to weather, flight cancellation or delays. Insurance coverage is the responsibility of each individual participant. At time of arrival credit card information must be given to cover incidentals, alcoholic beverages and other expenses.
Tipping Policy
You will meet staff throughout your tour who provide you with excellent service. Other staff support those who serve you directly. To save you the worry of who to tip and how much, a 5% service charge will be added to all services. Based on rate of $5495 USD Classic 5-Day Trip ($275.00) or $6495 USD Classic Plus 7-Day Trip ($ 325.00). This charge will be shared amongst those who help provide and support your tour experience, including the guides, pilots, chefs, housekeepers and maintenance staff. If you felt the service was exceptional, you may increase the amount you wish to have added to your bill.At your request, we will happily pass on additional amounts to specific individuals. Please feel free to speak with the reservations office or our Dawson representative at the end of your journey for any adjustment you would like to make in the service charge.
Tour Price fluctuations
Tour prices quoted based on foreign exchange rates at the time of printing. Increases due to fuel costs, rates of exchange, airline pricing, etc may result in an adjustment to our published pricing. We reserve the right to alter the price of the tour.
Special Requests
We are committed to ensuring client satisfaction while on your tour. Should you have any special requests please bring them to the attention of your Great River Journey representative and they will work with you to satisfy your requests.
Responsible Behavior
Tour participants are responsible for being in sufficiently good health to undertake their trip. Any cause of danger, distress, or annoyance to the group will be acted upon. Any expenses incurred resulting from removal from a tour will be your responsibility.
Baggage
One “Main” piece of luggage per person is allowed on the tour. This main bag must not exceed 20Kg (45lbs), it must be of a standard size such that it may be stored on coaches, boats and aircrafts. This is in addition to your carry–on or day bag (for camera, water etc.).
Single Travelers & Single Supplements
As the Great River Journey Tours are based on double occupancy, if you require single accommodation an additional fee will apply. Payment of a single supplement will ensure that you are provided with your own room. Single accommodation is based upon availability.
Customer Service & Client Feed Back
We will provide you will receive a Tour Questionnaire at the conclusion of your trip. We encourage completion of this questionnaire in order to ascertain deficiencies, inaccuracies and positive feedback regarding the tour, Tour Guide and lodge staff.
Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risk
Due to the prevailing insurance situation and legal atmosphere in Canada, we must insist that each participant be familiar with and agree to the following document. This document is similar in content to Waivers used throughout the adventure tourism industry. If you have any questions regarding any of the contents, please contact us prior to signing the document. The form must be completed and submitted with your final payment. No one may participate in a Great River Journey without submitting this document.
