Announcing the Gathering of Northern Nations Grand Prize Winner of the
Air North-Great River Journey Trip Launch

Whitehorse, Yukon (March 19, 2007) - The Yukon First Nations Tourism Association is pleased to announce the grand prize winner of a trip sponsored by Air North and Great River Journey - Jennifer Edzerza of Whitehorse, Yukon.

The Grand Prize consists of one round trip ticket for two for travel between Whitehorse and any one of Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver OR Whitehorse and any one of Dawson City, Old Crow or Inuvik. Also included is a one-way airfare for two from Dawson City to Whitehorse. The Great River Journey tour is an exclusive eight-day day wilderness safari trip for two down the historic Yukon River in Northern Canada. The journey travels 600 kilometers through the heart of the Yukon wilderness  - internationally acclaimed for its outstanding unspoiled wilderness, rich culture, history and warm, friendly people. 

The under 19 draw for Great River Journey and Air North merchandise was won by 15-year old Lisa Koprowasky of Whitehorse, Yukon. Lisa won a Great River Journey ball hat and hoodie and an Air North golf shirt and toque.

A total of 685 people, 169 from Outside and 516 Yukoners entered the (Grand Prize) contest during the 4-day Gathering of Northern Nations event hosted by the Yukon First Nations Tourism Association.

“The gathering was a huge success with so many exhibitors and artists from the territories providing a broad variety of cultural activities and products creating an exciting place for cultural learning. Participants shared stories, knowledge and their culture with locals and Canada Winter Games’ visitors” says Executive Director, Meta Williams.

“This event provided a place for key stakeholders to gather with Aboriginal Elders, tourism and business operators, artists, craftspeople, youth, and other representatives,” Williams added. “The gathering was to promote our communities’ best and we hope it also provided opportunities for networking, dialogue exchange and sharing of best practices. An added bonus was to also promote Northern First Nation communities, Aboriginal tourism and tourism as a whole.”
